Install Aegisrook

Download Aegisrook, move it to your Applications folder, open it and enter your licence key. About two minutes.

On this page
  1. Install it
  2. Enter your licence key
  3. Set it up

Download Aegisrook from aegisrook.com, drag it to your Applications folder, and open it from there. It asks for your licence key first, then walks you through setup.

Aegisrook runs on macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later, on Apple silicon and Intel Macs.

Install it

  1. Go to the download page and download the Aegisrook disk image (a .dmg file).
  2. Open the downloaded file. A window opens with the Aegisrook icon and your Applications folder.
  3. Drag Aegisrook onto Applications.
  4. Open Aegisrook from your Applications folder.

Aegisrook is signed by its developer and notarized by Apple, so macOS opens it without a warning about an unknown developer. The first time, macOS may ask whether you want to open an app downloaded from the internet. Click Open.

Enter your licence key

The first time Aegisrook opens, it asks for the licence key from the email you got after buying. Paste it and click Activate. Enter your licence key has the details.

Set it up

After the licence, Aegisrook shows a short welcome: what it does, what it doesn’t do, and the permissions it asks for. The last page is a setup list:

  • Allow notifications, so you see alerts as they happen
  • Keep alerts on screen, so a warning stays until you’ve read it (shown once notifications are allowed)
  • Give Aegisrook Full Disk Access, for the permission and download checks
  • Turn on the firewall, to be asked before an app goes online
  • Open Aegisrook at login, so Aegisrook is checking from the moment you log in
  • Back up your Mac (recommended), with Time Machine

Each item is ticked when it’s done. You can skip any of them and come back later: choose Help › Welcome & Setup… in the menu bar, or open Settings, choose the Help & Reset tab and click Show Welcome & Setup Again.

Allow Aegisrook’s permissions explains each one.
