Get alerts on your phone

Aegisrook can send Away Mode alerts, and optionally danger alerts, to your iPhone or Android phone through the free ntfy app.

On this page
  1. Set it up
  2. Keep the topic name private
  3. What’s sent

Install the free ntfy app on your phone, subscribe to the topic name Aegisrook shows you, and turn on Send alerts to phone on the Away Mode page, in the Alarm & Phone tab. Away Mode alerts then reach your phone, and danger alerts too if you choose.

Set it up

  1. Install ntfy on your iPhone or Android phone. It’s free.
  2. In Aegisrook, open Away Mode, choose the Alarm & Phone tab and turn on Send alerts to phone under Phone Alerts.
  3. Aegisrook shows a topic name. Click Copy, or New Name for a new random one.
  4. In the ntfy app, tap + and subscribe to that topic name.
  5. Click Send Test to Phone. Aegisrook says Sent. Check your phone. and the test appears in the ntfy app.

To also get every danger alert on your phone, not only Away Mode ones, turn on Also send danger alerts to phone.

Keep the topic name private

ntfy topics work like a shared address: anyone who knows the name can read what’s sent to it. Aegisrook only accepts names of at least 20 letters, numbers, dashes or underscores, so they can’t be guessed. Don’t share yours. If you think someone knows it, click New Name and subscribe to the new one.

What’s sent

  • The alert’s title and message
  • With Away Mode’s photo turned on, the photo of whoever opened your Mac

Alerts go through the ntfy.sh service. Nothing else from your Mac is sent.
