Turn off the firewall, quit Aegisrook completely, then drag it from Applications to the Trash. macOS removes Aegisrook’s firewall along with it, and may ask for your password. Aegisrook has no uninstaller of its own. Your settings and history stay on the Mac until you delete them.
Remove the app
- If you turned on Encrypted DNS, turn it off first: open Network, choose the Blocklists & DNS tab, and click Turn Off in the Encrypted DNS section.
- If the firewall is on, open the Firewall tab and click Turn Off.
- If you’ll use your licence on another Mac, open Settings, choose the Help & Reset tab and click Remove Licence….
- Choose Quit Aegisrook Completely… from the menu bar icon, or press ⌥ ⌘ Q. Closing the window isn’t enough: Aegisrook keeps running in the background.
- In Finder, drag Aegisrook from Applications to the Trash.
- If macOS asks to remove the network extension, or asks for an administrator name and password, enter them.
Check the firewall is gone
macOS usually removes the firewall when the app goes to the Trash, but on some versions it can be left behind. To check:
- Open System Settings › General › Login Items & Extensions and scroll to the extensions.
- Switch the list to By Category if needed, and click the Info button (ⓘ) next to Network Extensions.
- If Aegisrook is still listed, click the More button (…) next to it and choose Delete Extension.
Remove its settings and history too
Aegisrook keeps its history in your Library folder, its settings and licence key in its preferences file, and its firewall rules in the Library folder at the top level of your disk. To remove them:
- In Finder, choose Go › Go to Folder…, enter
~/Library/Application Support/and move the Aegisrook folder to the Trash. (Aegisrook is Aegisrook’s earlier name.) - Do the same for
~/Library/Preferences/: move com.leeyongjin.Aegisrook.plist to the Trash. - If you used the firewall, do the same for
/Library/Application Support/and its Aegisrook folder. macOS asks for an administrator password.
Aegisrook also keeps a few small items, such as your VirusTotal key, in your login keychain under the name Aegisrook. You can delete them in Keychain Access.
